Tanking Slurry System Reliable Waterproof Protection

A Tanking Slurry System is a highly effective method of preventing water ingress through walls. Made from a blend of specialist aggregates, cements, and waterproofing chemicals, the slurry is applied directly to masonry surfaces where it cures to form a durable, watertight barrier.

The slurry is brushed onto the prepared surface in liquid form and, once dry, is followed by at least one additional coat to ensure complete and consistent coverage.

Our Professional Application Process

At Timsbury Preservation Services, we take a meticulous approach to ensure every installation delivers long-term performance.

1. Thorough Surface Preparation
All existing render, plaster, and paint are removed to expose the bare masonry. Proper preparation is essential to achieve a strong bond and effective waterproofing.

2. Mortar Joint Repairs
Any sub-standard or deteriorated mortar joints are carefully raked out and repointed using a fresh 3:1 sand and cement mix, incorporating a waterproof additive for enhanced protection.

3. Application of Tanking Slurry
Once the surface is fully prepared, the first coat of tanking slurry is applied. After it has dried to the touch, a second coat is applied to create a robust and continuous waterproof barrier.

4. Spatter Coat for Keying
Finally, a sand and cement spatter coat is applied to provide an excellent key for the subsequent render coat, ensuring a strong and lasting finish.

When installed correctly, a tanking slurry system provides dependable, long-term resistance against moisture penetration — helping to keep your walls dry, protected, and structurally sound.
